The Perfect Pool
One of Austin’s most well-known landmarks is Barton Springs, a recreational outdoor swimming pool. Filled with nearby underground natural springs, the pool temperature ranges between 68 °F (20 °C) and 74 °F (23 °C), making it excellent for year-round swimming. The grassy grounds surrounding the pool are ideal for relaxing. Native American settlers once believed the springs possessed spiritual healing powers.
We found people doing yoga, getting suntanned, snorkeling, swimming, and having fun during our visit. So go splash in the bathhouse, and don’t forget to check out the history and biology of Barton Springs at the educational exhibit located on the grounds.
You can find parking areas nearby, but they can get pretty crowded, especially on summer weekends. Entry fees range from 2$ for (1-11year) child to 5$ for adults. You can also purchase season swim passes.
Prohibited Items and Activities include Food, Pets, Smoking, Glass, Alcohol, Frisbees, Footballs, other hard balls, Coolers, thermal bags, etc.
